Dr. Smitha S., Assistant Professor in Education, Sree Narayana Training College, Nedunganda, Varkala, Thiruvananthapuram District, Kerala joined in permanent service in the college in 2007. The areas of interest include Philosophical Foundations in Education, Value Embedded Quality Research in Education, Vedic Mathematics, Statistics and Educational Evaluation, etc. She secured Fourth Rank in M.Sc.( Mathematics, 1994), University of Kerala; Second Rank in M.Ed., 2001, M. G. University; Fourth Position in PGDEPMA, 2014, University of Kerala; and First Position in M.A.(Philosophy), 2015, University of Kerala. She has won the Best Writer Awards in State-wide competitions in 2010 & 2011 held in connection with National Teachers’ Day. She is a recipient of the N. P. Pillai Memorial Literary Award, 2017. She is an Approved Research Guide in the University of Kerala. She has published one book with State Institute of Languages, Govt.of Kerala and many Research Articles in various Reputed National and International Journals as well as in leading News Papers. She has completed two Minor Research Projects of UGC & KSHEC and one Major Research Project of ICSSR. She has coordinated three National Seminars sponsored by UGC & HRC, Govt. of India. She was the Curriculum Committee Member for the Restructuring of B.Ed. course of the University of Kerala. She was the Chief Examiner and External Examiner of B.Ed. Degree Examinations. She is a Guest Faculty Member, IGNOU in ‘Research Methodology & Statistics’. She is a member of a number of Academic Bodies including Kerala Ganita Sastra Parishat, Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishat, Kerala University General Teachers Association and the Auditor of Council for Teacher Education, Kerala Chapter. Presently, She is actively engaging in the propagation of Vedic Mathematics in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and International Association of Vedic Mathematics (IAVM).
